Russia has unveiled the Sibiryachok-5 unmanned aerial vehicle at the International Security Forum in the Moscow Region, according to a TASS correspondent report. The domestically produced drone resembles a larger DJI Mavic and is manufactured by Gaskar, with the company claiming to have localized 85-90% of its components. Assembly of a single unit takes just over two minutes.
The Sibiryachok-5 distinguishes itself from competitors through enhanced functionality, including the ability to carry an additional battery or a laser rangefinder for target acquisition. Defense agency specialists testing the UAV told TASS that the drone is "better adapted to the current situation" compared to its closest commercial competitor. A key advantage highlighted by the manufacturer is the model's high survivability in electronic warfare environments.
Beyond military applications, the drone is equipped with a 160x optical zoom, night vision optics, and built-in artificial intelligence for automatic recognition of vehicles and personnel. These capabilities enable its use for monitoring infrastructure, construction facilities, and mining operations, as well as pipeline inspection, search and rescue operations, and recording offenses. The Sibiryachok-5 is currently undergoing testing in the special military operation zone in Ukraine and by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
