The India Meteorological Department (IMD) centre in Jaipur has issued forecasts indicating that Rajasthan will experience severe weather conditions due to an active western disturbance system. Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected across ten districts including Alwar, Bharatpur, Deeg, Jhunjhunu, Khimthel, Kotputli, Sikar, Churu, Hanumangarh, and Sriganganagar from June 23 onwards.
Rainfall has already been recorded across several districts in the past 24 hours. The highest precipitation was registered in Baran district's Atru area with 62 millimetres, followed by Kishangarj with 50 millimetres and Danta Ramgarh in Sikar district with 40 millimetres. Other regions including Srimadhopurcity, Amer, Chauth Ka Barwada, and Navalgadh recorded between 20 to 30 millimetres of rainfall.
The weather department has issued alerts for strong winds and thunderstorms. Over the next 24 hours, Bikaner region, Shekhawati area, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, and parts of Kota region are expected to experience wind speeds of 50 to 60 kilometres per hour accompanied by heavy rainfall. Additionally, Jodhpur and Udaipur regions may also experience light rainfall and thunderstorms. The eastern and western portions of the state are more susceptible to rainfall activity, while southern areas are expected to experience less significant weather changes.
According to the meteorological centre, the adverse weather conditions are expected to persist until June 25. On June 22 alone, districts including Ajmer, Alwar, Jaipur, Jhunjhunu, and Sikar may experience gusty winds at speeds of 50 to 70 kilometres per hour. Notably, no heatwave conditions have been recorded anywhere in the state, providing relief from extreme temperatures. Temperature recordings from major stations show Barmer at 40.6°C, Bikaner at 40.2°C, and Jaisalmer at 40.1°C as the highest readings across affected regions.
