Casio Launches Limited-Edition Pokémon G-Shock Watch Celebrating 30th Anniversary
Casio has unveiled a limited-edition Pokémon G-Shock watch featuring retro Game Boy-inspired design and 30 Pokémon illustrations across the band. The watch launches through a lottery system in Japan on July 17 priced at ¥33,000, with pre-orders opening July 1, while US customers can pre-order directly starting July 1 at $270.
Quick Facts
- Launched limited-edition Pokémon-themed G-Shock watch
- First full-sized Pokémon G-Shock collaboration
- Previous collaborations were Baby-G models
- Features red, green, blue colour scheme
- Includes Poké Ball-shaped sub-dial

Casio has officially announced a new Pokémon-themed G-Shock watch, marking the first full-sized Pokémon collaboration for the brand after previous partnerships were limited to the compact Baby-G line. Built on the oversized GA-110 model, the watch features a vibrant red, green, and blue colour scheme inspired by the original 1996 Game Boy games and the first Pokémon titles released in Japan as Pocket Monsters Red and Green.
The watch is packed with Pokémon-themed design elements celebrating the franchise's 30th anniversary. The sub-dial at the 9 o'clock position resembles a Poké Ball with a Pikachu-shaped indicator hand, while the clear resin band showcases 30 Pokémon illustrations including starter Pokémon from all nine mainline generations, Pikachu, and Eevee. Additional details include a Mew silhouette on the band keeper and a special 30th anniversary logo engraved on the case back. The watch comes packaged in a special Poké Ball-shaped collector's case.
Availability differs by region. In Japan, the watch will be sold through a lottery system on Casio's official website, with applications running from July 1 to July 6 and a release date of July 17. The price in Japan is ¥33,000 (approximately £150). In the United States, pre-orders open on July 1 without a lottery system, though the limited inventory is expected to sell out quickly, priced at $270. Casio has not confirmed releases in other markets such as the UK and Europe.
The watch specifications include a 200-metre water resistance rating, shock and magnetic resistance, a CR1220 battery with approximately two-year lifespan, mineral glass, and standard G-Shock functions including world time for 29 time zones, a 1/1000-second stopwatch, 24-hour countdown timer, five daily alarms, and a full auto-calendar through 2099. The watch is compatible with wrist sizes ranging from 145 to 215 millimetres.
Why This Matters
This collaboration represents a significant milestone for Casio's Pokémon partnership—the first full-sized G-Shock model rather than compact variants—appealing to collectors and fans who value nostalgic 1990s gaming aesthetics. The limited inventory and region-specific lottery system create urgency and exclusivity, while the $270 price point and 30th-anniversary positioning make this a premium collectible that could appreciate in value. Readers interested in wearable nostalgia, limited-edition collectibles, or the intersection of gaming and luxury watches should monitor availability closely.
