Abdullah Shafique became the first Pakistan batter since Majid Khan in 1977 to score over 150 in a Test against the West Indies in the Caribbean, scoring an unbeaten 160 off 323 balls to help Pakistan reach 387 and secure a 43-run first-innings lead in the second Test at Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain on August 4, 2026.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam was run out for 88 by Brandon King's direct throw from cover, denying him a century by 12 runs and extending his Test century drought to nearly four years—since December 2022 against New Zealand at Karachi. Babar and Shafique had built a 183-run partnership before West Indies claimed three wickets for five runs through disciplined bowling from Jomel Warrican and Jayden Seales. The run-out marked Babar's seventh dismissal in this manner in Test cricket, equalling the records of Wasim Akram and Azhar Ali. King suffered a lower back injury during the throw and had to be stretchered off, with his availability for day four uncertain.
Pakistan's middle order collapsed after Babar's dismissal, with debutant Awais Zafar clean bowled for 1, Salman Ali Agha trapped leg before wicket, and Mohammad Rizwan bowled for 18. Warrican claimed figures of 6-112, his second-best and third five-wicket haul in Tests—all against Pakistan. Shafique, however, anchored the innings with 15 fours and three sixes, reaching the milestone during a 59-run partnership with Sajid Khan.
West Indies were left reeling at 103 for six at stumps on day three after Pakistan's spinning duo of Sajid Khan and Ali Usman took six wickets in the final session. Khan claimed 4-32 while Usman took 2-29. With an overall lead of only 60 runs, West Indies face a difficult task to avoid defeat. The hosts lead the two-match series after a 90-run victory in the opening Test at Tarouba from July 25-29.

Why This Matters
Pakistan has moved to a commanding position in the second Test at Port of Spain, with Shafique's historic 160 anchoring a 387-run first innings and a 43-run lead. West Indies' middle and lower order has collapsed to 103/6 under pressure from Pakistan's spinners—Khan and Usman claimed six wickets in the final session—leaving the hosts facing a difficult task to avoid defeat. Babar Azam's run-out for 88, denying him a century by 12 runs, extends his four-year drought and marks a critical setback in Pakistan's captain's form. The outcome of this Test will determine the series result, with West Indies having won the opening Test by 90 runs.
