Trump Thanks Putin and Xi for Neutral Stance During US-Iran Military Operation

US President Donald Trump praised Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping for maintaining neutral positions during the US-Israeli military operation against Iran, stating their restraint made the situation significantly easier for Washington. Trump made the remarks at a news conference following the Group of Seven summit in Evian-les-Bains, France, on June 17, expressing gratitude that the two major powers did not escalate tensions.

US, Iranian, and Pakistani officials have confirmed that Washington and Tehran have reached a comprehensive agreement to end the war in the Middle East, with Pakistan serving as a key mediator in negotiations. The agreement includes a 60-day ceasefire during which both sides will discuss Iran's nuclear program. According to Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, the accord encompasses an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon. The US maritime blockade of Iran, which had been in place, ended on June 15.

A formal signing ceremony for the agreement is scheduled for June 19 in Switzerland, marking a significant diplomatic achievement. The military operation between the US-Israeli coalition and Iran had commenced on February 28, making the agreement a major development in regional stability.
