Chelsea have completed the signing of England midfielder Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for £117 million, setting a new transfer record for a British player. Rogers attributed his decision to join Chelsea partly to the appeal of manager Xabi Alonso's football philosophy and the club's project. Middlesbrough, Rogers' previous club, will receive 20 percent of the transfer fee—reportedly at least £20.4 million—due to a sell-on clause agreed when they sold Rogers to Aston Villa for £15 million in February 2024.
