Mouratoglou Names Sinner Clear Favourite for Wimbledon 2026, Warns of Djokovic Threat

Patrick Mouratoglou, the renowned coach who has worked with tennis champions including Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka, and Holger Rune, has offered his assessment of the men's singles title contenders ahead of Wimbledon 2026. Speaking in an Instagram video, Mouratoglou identified Jannik Sinner as the clear favourite for the championship, which runs from 29 June to 12 July.

Mouratoglou highlighted Sinner's exceptional form, noting the remarkable streak of consecutive Masters 1000 victories the world number one has achieved. He acknowledged that Sinner, as the defending champion, faces added pressure but suggested the Italian is well-equipped to handle it. However, the French coach cautioned against dismissing Novak Djokovic's chances, emphasising that grass remains Djokovic's strongest surface and that the reduced rally length on grass plays to the Serbian's advantage in closing points quickly.

Mouratoglou pointed to a significant historical pattern: over the past decade, Djokovic has lost at Wimbledon only to Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, with the exception of his 2017 retirement. The coach also mentioned Alexander Zverev, the fresh Roland Garros champion, as a potential threat, though he questioned whether Zverev's clay court success would translate to grass court performance or meaningfully impact Sinner's confidence and form.
