A trove of internal records from Dialog, a secret society for powerful figures in US politics, finance, and technology, was exposed online this week, revealing the identities of participants and sensitive personal details they were assured would remain confidential. The private, invitation-only organization was cofounded in 2006 by billionaire tech investor Peter Thiel and has spent two decades concealing its membership while convening US officials, foreign government representatives, and Silicon Valley executives at off-the-record annual retreats.
The leak was first revealed by Swiss hacktivist maia arson crimew, who told WIRED the directory surfaced through an anonymous tip. WIRED independently verified the contents. A separate source provided the outlet with a registration list for Dialog's 2026 retreat scheduled for August 12-16 near Dublin, Ireland, naming 222 attendees and documenting their membership status and attendee type. The leaked documents expose an extraordinary convergence of power, listing General Alexus Grynkewich, NATO's supreme allied commander Europe and head of US European Command since July 2025, alongside sitting Trump administration officials, two US senators, six members of the PayPal Mafia, a former Middle East intelligence chief, and a sitting US ambassador. The directory also identifies executives from major surveillance, data-broker, and advertising-data companies.
The leaked program agenda reveals a striking juxtaposition of topics discussed at the retreats, ranging from conventional thought leadership sessions such as "Money (Does?) Buy Happiness" to provocative panels including "Bring Back Nuclear," "Navigating WWIII," "Battlefield Technologies," "How's Your Sex Life?," "Build-a-Cult" moderated by the founder of Christian networking site Pray.com, and "Build-a-Party" run by a former White House national security official. Of the 222 registered for the 2026 retreat, 87 are marked as first-time attendees, with others showing attendance histories spanning more than a decade.
Notable figures identified in the leaked records include Auren Hoffman, Dialog's chairman and founder of location-data broker SafeGraph and identity-resolution firm LiveRamp, appearing alongside Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Senator Ted Cruz, who chairs the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee overseeing the Federal Trade Commission. Similarly, Palantir cofounder Joe Lonsdale, whose software supports US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and provides data fusion for the Pentagon and intelligence community, is listed alongside Army Secretary Dan Driscoll and Representative Jim Himes, ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee. None of the individuals named responded to requests for comment, nor did Raffi Grinberg, listed as Dialog's executive director.
Why This Matters
This leak exposes how America's elite networks operate behind closed doors, raising urgent questions about conflicts of interest, transparency, and accountability. When military commanders, Treasury officials, intelligence committee members, and major tech executives—including those running surveillance and data-broker firms—convene in secret to discuss geopolitics and technology policy, voters and oversight bodies are kept in the dark. The exposure enables journalists, regulators, and citizens to scrutinize potential coordination between government and private interests that could shape national security decisions, financial policy, and digital rights.
