Mike Trout delivered his first four-hit game in more than five years on Sunday, going 4-for-4 with a double and three singles as the Los Angeles Angels defeated the San Francisco Giants 4-3. The performance marked Trout's 21st career four-hit game and first since April 26, 2021, raising his batting average to .247, his highest since mid-May.
With the victory, Trout moved past Tim Salmon on two of the Angels' all-time lists. His double was his 340th career double, placing him second on the franchise list behind Garrett Anderson's 489. He also reached 1,014 career singles, now fourth on the team's all-time list, behind Anderson (1,572), Darin Erstad (1,082), and Brian Downing (1,062).
The Angels snapped a three-game losing streak with the win. Starter José Soriano (9-6) allowed an unearned run over five innings, giving up three hits while walking three and striking out five. Mitch Farris secured the final two outs for his first career save. The Giants' four-game home win streak ended with the loss; San Francisco remains the only MLB team without a series sweep of three or more games this season.
Jorge Soler opened the scoring with a leadoff home run, and Jo Adell's 446-foot home run in the fourth inning helped build a 4-0 Angels lead. For the Giants, Luis Arraez drove in a run with a groundout in the fifth and added a two-run double in the ninth. Drew Cavanaugh went 2-for-2 with two walks for San Francisco.

Why This Matters
Trout's four-hit performance improved the Angels' record and extended his franchise standing in career hits categories, positioning the team to break a three-game losing streak. The Giants' loss ended their four-game home winning streak and marks continued difficulty in securing multi-game series sweeps, affecting playoff seeding implications as the season progresses.
