Iran Says Israeli Attacks on Lebanon Would Violate US Commitment

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Baghaei stated on June 18 that if Israel continues attacking Lebanon, it would be considered a violation of US commitments outlined in a recently published memorandum of understanding between the two nations. The memorandum explicitly requires the immediate and permanent cessation of military operations across all fronts, including Lebanon. According to Baghaei, the first article of the memorandum specifically emphasizes respect for Lebanon's territorial integrity and national sovereignty, with the United States bearing responsibility for ensuring Israel adheres to these commitments. In separate negotiations spanning the past two to three weeks, Iran and the United States conducted detailed discussions on unfreezing Iranian assets. Iran stated it must retain the ability to freely use unfrozen assets according to its own discretion, while the United States committed to removing all related obstacles to asset access.
