Offers 24-hour validity
Includes 200MB 4G data bonus
Enables hotspot sharing to other devices
Introduced four TRAI-recommended voice-only plans at 147, 177, 196, 197 rupees

Reliance Jio has introduced a 15-rupee data add-on plan offering 24 hours of unlimited 5G internet access, available from November 5, 2026. The plan is designed as a flexible booster for existing prepaid subscribers and does not function as a standalone service—users must have an active primary plan on their account.

The unlimited 5G data benefit applies only in areas with Jio's 5G network coverage and requires a 5G-enabled smartphone. For users with 4G devices or in 4G-only areas, the plan provides 1GB of high-speed 4G data, after which speeds reduce to 64 Kbps. Additionally, the plan includes 200MB of complimentary 4G data. The 24-hour validity begins from the time of recharge and operates independently of the carrier's nightly 12-midnight data restriction policy.

Users can share the data connection via mobile hotspot to other devices such as laptops and tablets. The plan supports high-definition and 4K video streaming, online gaming, large file downloads, cloud backups, and software updates. Activation is available through the MyJio mobile application, Jio's official website (Jio.com), third-party recharge platforms, and Reliance retail outlets. The plan is positioned as India's most affordable unlimited 5G data offering compared to competitor options—for example, Vodafone Idea's basic data booster costs 22 rupees for 1GB, while its unlimited 24-hour plan is priced at 49 rupees.

Jio has also introduced four TRAI-recommended voice-only plans at 147, 177, 196, and 197 rupees, with validity periods ranging from 22 to 30 days or a calendar month. These plans include unlimited voice calling and 300 free SMS but no data, and can be paired with the new 15-rupee data add-on.

Why This Matters

Reliance Jio's 15-rupee unlimited 5G plan expands affordable mobile broadband access in India's 5G rollout. Prepaid subscribers gain flexible 24-hour data boosts at competitive rates compared to competitors (Vodafone Idea's equivalent costs 49 rupees); the plan addresses traffic demand during peak usage hours and supports high-bandwidth applications (video streaming, gaming, downloads). Availability across multiple distribution channels (app, web, retail) and compatibility with voice-only plans at 147–197 rupees signals carrier strategy to unbundle voice and data, affecting subscriber purchasing patterns and data consumption trends in Indian telecom markets.
