John Boyega Confirms Secret Marriage, Baby Boy on the Way

British-Nigerian actor John Boyega revealed during an interview with The Guardian that he married nearly two years ago and is expecting his first child, a baby boy. The 34-year-old Star Wars actor confirmed the news after a reporter noticed a wedding ring on his finger. While Boyega did not officially name his wife during the interview, social media speculation and Instagram activity suggest he married actress and model Lashontae Heckard, whose bio now reads "Tae Boyega."

Boyega described his wedding as a small, private ceremony rather than a traditional celebration. He explained the couple's reasoning: "We both like the idea of celebrating something established, rather than celebrating the entry." He expressed hope for a more elaborate Nigerian-style celebration in the future, joking that "by then, we'll have to shut Nigeria down!" The actor shared that he owns two wedding rings: a two-toned band with sentimental value and another purchased spontaneously from Walmart in Canoga Park.

Looking ahead to fatherhood, Boyega expressed enthusiasm and focus on family priorities. "We got a baby cooking," he said. "My life is completely, completely fulfilled in terms of family. It's been so nice with the timing." He noted that he already has experience with parenting, as Heckard has a son from a previous relationship. Boyega emphasized his commitment to being "present, consistent and full of love" as a father, and said he has deliberately de-centered his career during certain periods to prioritize family time. The couple was first publicly spotted together at Disneyland in April 2025 but has maintained a largely private relationship since.
