Shrek 5 Teaser Hints at Imprisonment and New Adventures

Universal Pictures has released a teaser for DreamWorks Animation's eagerly awaited "Shrek 5," revealing an unexpected twist: main characters Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey appear behind bars. The teaser shows Donkey attempting to persuade Shrek to embark on a "new, exciting adventure" in Outland, only for the group to end up imprisoned. The film is set to premiere in Ukrainian cinemas on 30 June 2027.

The fifth installment in the beloved franchise introduces new characters, including the sons of Shrek and Fiona, Fergus and Farkleen. The story continues the adventures of the ogre and his friends as they navigate this fresh, surprising situation. Directors Conrad Vernon and Walt Dohrn, both veterans of the series, helm the project. Vernon was part of the directing team for the Academy Award-nominated "Shrek 2," while Dohrn contributed as a writer and artist on the second and third films and as story supervisor on the fourth.

Producers Gina Shay, who produced "Shrek Forever After," and Chris Meledandri, Illumination CEO and Academy Award nominee known for "Super Mario," "Despicable Me," and "The Walking Dead," are behind the film. Brad Ableson, with credits including "The Walking Dead: The Making of a Villain" and "The Simpsons," serves as co-director. The film marks the fifth chapter in the popular franchise, continuing the adventures of the beloved ogre and his friends.
