Texas pitcher Luke Harrison delivered an impressive performance despite the loss, striking out 11 batters and carrying a no-hitter into the fifth inning. Harrison had struck out eight of his first 10 batters faced before surrendering Phelps' decisive double down the left-field line. The Longhorns struggled offensively throughout the contest, going 0-for-8 with runners on base and 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position. Despite mounting a threat in the eighth inning with two runners on base, Texas was unable to capitalize, with Adrian Rodriguez grounding out to end the threat.
