Brazil's national team manager Carlo Ancelotti announced a 26-player squad on Thursday, October 29, for friendlies against Japan and Singapore in November. The squad includes five uncapped players: Manchester City forward Allan Elias, Cruzeiro defender Jonathan Jesus, Corinthians midfielder André Luiz, and Shakhtar Donetsk pair Marlon Gomes and Alisson Santana.
Ancelotti emphasised the strategic purpose of the selection. "Each player has their own individual qualities," he said at the announcement. "Jonathan Jesus strikes me as a very strong, very fast, aggressive, intelligent center-back. Marlon Gomes has a lot of dynamism." The squad also features established stars including Vinicius Júnior (Real Madrid), Raphinha (Barcelona), Gabriel Magalhães (Arsenal), and Bruno Guimarães, reflecting Brazil's balance between experience and youth development.
Notably, no players from Flamengo, Palmeiras, or Atlético-MG were called up—all three clubs are contending for domestic titles. The CBF requested the squad limit to minimise disruption during the final stages of the Brazilian league season, Copa do Brasil, Copa Sudamericana, and Libertadores Cup. Other Brazilian clubs could contribute a maximum of one player each. Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson was excluded, with Ancelotti stating: "We don't need to evaluate Alisson. We know him very well; he is the best goalkeeper. When the Copa América starts, he will be called up along with other experienced players."
The squad includes nine Olympic-eligible players and 15 under-23 athletes, underscoring Brazil's youth transition following the team's round-of-16 exit at the 2026 World Cup. Chelsea prospect Estêvão, 19, retained his place despite limited playing time at club level.
Brazil will face Japan on November 14 and Singapore on November 17, both at Singapore's National Stadium. These are Brazil's final two matches of 2026. Ancelotti noted the squad serves as preparation for 2027 and beyond: "During this period moving into 2027, we must undertake this work to find a clear direction. By the first friendly match in 2028, when World Cup qualifying begins and Copa América preparation starts, I believe we will have a more mature squad."

Why This Matters
Brazil's squad selection reflects a deliberate transition strategy ahead of 2028 World Cup qualifying and 2027 Copa América preparations. The inclusion of five uncapped players and nine Olympic-eligible athletes, combined with the exclusion of players from title-contending domestic clubs, signals the CBF's priority to minimize disruption to Brazil's domestic calendar while evaluating younger talent. The timing of these November friendlies—Brazil's final matches of 2026—comes after the team's round-of-16 exit at the 2026 World Cup, with Ancelotti framing the squad as part of a longer developmental cycle extending into 2028.
