Liverpool Signs Spain Winger Victor Muñoz from Osasuna for €40 Million

Liverpool has completed the signing of Spanish winger Victor Muñoz from Osasuna for a reported 40 million euros ($46 million) by triggering his release clause. The 22-year-old sealed the transfer while competing at the World Cup, with Liverpool sending medical staff to the United States to conduct checks at Spain's tournament base in Tennessee. Muñoz signed a long-term contract with the Premier League club after completing his medical examination.

The transfer marks Liverpool's first signing since the appointment of manager Andoni Iraola, who replaced Arne Slot. The signing addresses the club's attacking needs following the departure of long-time star Mohamed Salah. Muñoz impressed during a breakout season with Osasuna, scoring seven goals and providing five assists while demonstrating pace and versatility across both flanks.

Muñoz, born in Barcelona, began his career at the club's prestigious La Masia academy before joining Real Madrid's youth system. He made limited senior appearances for Madrid, including one against Barcelona, before departing for Osasuna in July 2025. Real Madrid retained a 50 percent sell-on clause in the deal, meaning the Spanish giant will receive 20 million euros from the transfer. The winger made his Spain debut in March and was selected for the World Cup squad despite managing a calf injury during the tournament buildup.
