Jack White's Wife Olivia Jean Files for Divorce, Citing 'Inappropriate Marital Conduct'

Olivia Jean Markel, known professionally as Olivia Jean, has filed for divorce from her husband, Jack White, the frontman of the White Stripes, after four years of marriage. The court documents were filed on June 3 in Nashville, according to records obtained by multiple news outlets.

In her filing, Markel, 36, cited "inappropriate marital conduct" by White, making continued cohabitation "unsafe and improper." She also noted "irreconcilable differences" and stated she is dependent on White's income for financial support. In Tennessee, "inappropriate marital conduct" is a standard legal term used in fault-based divorce proceedings. The couple's separation date is listed as the day of filing.

White, 50, and Markel had a highly publicized engagement during his hometown concert in Detroit on April 8, 2022. He proposed onstage, and the pair exchanged rings that same night with Ben Swank, co-founder of White's Third Man Records, officiating. Markel's filing lists their wedding date as December 2022.

White has been married three times previously: to his White Stripes bandmate Meg White from 1996 to 2000, to model Karen Elson from 2005 to 2011 (with whom he shares two children), and a brief relationship with actress Renée Zellweger. The last confirmed public sighting of White and Markel together was in New York City in April 2026. Representatives for both parties have not yet commented on the filing.
