Investigators from the Indonesian Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) have sealed a warehouse storing electric motorcycles belonging to the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) in Bogor, West Java, as part of an ongoing corruption investigation into the Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) free meal program.
Director of Investigation at the Special Crimes Division (Jampidsus), Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, confirmed the action, stating that the visit was to verify the number of motorcycles and secure the facility. He added that indications suggest there may be additional warehouse locations that will be subjected to similar measures in stages.
The corruption case centers on alleged price markup in procurement of goods for the MBG program. Among the flagged procurements are 21,801 units of electric motorcycles with a total procurement value of Rp 1.035 trillion, which was paid to PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal (YAT). The company was found to lack active dealerships or workshops, and there was evidence of markup. Other irregular procurements include 32,000 pairs of shoes, 31,994 tablets, and 5,400 television units, all reportedly involving markups and non-compliance with regulations.
Five individuals have been named as suspects in the case: former BGN head Dadan Hindayana; former BGN deputy for organizational development Lodewyk Pusung; former BGN deputy for nutritional fulfillment operations Sony Sonjaya; private party Asep Yusuf Soemantri; and Andri Mulyono, commissioner of PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal. The case continues to develop as investigators search for additional evidence and potential further suspects.
Why This Matters
This crackdown reveals systemic corruption in Indonesia's flagship welfare program, affecting procurement worth over Rp 1 trillion. For businesses and investors, it signals heightened enforcement risks in public procurement contracts, especially for infrastructure and goods supply. Compliance gaps, like contracting with companies lacking operational capacity, may now face stricter scrutiny across all government programs.
