The Uzbekistan Football Association announced the decision after the player underwent an extended recovery period under an individualized training program designed by the national team's medical staff. Medical examination results were submitted to FIFA's medical committee for review. After assessing the materials, the committee determined that Masharipov would not be fit to compete in the tournament.
