Saudi coalition intercepts Houthi drone over Mecca; group denies attack

The reported incident reflects escalating cross-border strikes between Saudi-led forces and the Houthi group, affecting regional air defense operations, energy infrastructure security (Aramco facilities, refineries named as targets), and civilian movement in Yemen's conflict zones. A collapsed April 2022 ceasefire and attribution disputes over July 2024 Sanaa airport attacks have left no active de-escalation framework; humanitarian agencies report worsening civilian shortages of medical supplies, water, and fuel in affected areas including Taiz, Marib, and al-Jawf.
