Actress Minnie Driver is recovering from a serious car accident in rural France, which she described in an Instagram video posted on August 6. Driver, 56, was traveling on a country road when another vehicle failed to stop at an intersection, resulting in a T-bone collision. Driver and her friend Ben Homewood were both injured but survived the crash. Driver is now recovering in London with a sprained neck and described being in shock, though she stated she is "going to heal."

Driver attributed their survival to the safety features of the Kia EV2 they were driving. She specifically credited the vehicle's 360-degree airbag system and structural design for preventing more severe injuries. "The reason that I'm not dead, honestly, is the car that we were driving," Driver said in the video. She emphasized the crash was not their fault and expressed gratitude for surviving the incident. Driver clarified her remarks were not a paid advertisement, stating she simply felt compelled to acknowledge the vehicle's role in their survival.

In the video and social media posts, Driver thanked the van driver who stopped to help before ambulances arrived, while also noting another vehicle that slowed down, assessed the scene, and drove off without stopping. Driver also shared that she had never been in a serious accident before and described her ongoing recovery as involving replaying the crash mentally and processing the trauma through crying. She maintained her sense of humor, joking about her surname and posting that she might change her name to "Kia Driver." Fellow actor Ben Homewood posted images of the wreckage and hospital care to his Instagram stories, expressing gratitude for surviving the crash. According to reports, Driver was filming the sixth season of Netflix's "Emily in Paris" in France at the time and plans to return to the role once she recovers, with one scene being rescheduled as a result of her injury.
