The Atlanta Hawks have acquired guard Aaron Wiggins from the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for two future second-round draft picks, multiple sources confirmed Sunday night. ESPN’s Shams Charania and The Athletic both reported the deal, which sends Wiggins to Atlanta for second-round selections in 2030 and 2032.
Wiggins, a 27-year-old veteran who spent all five seasons of his career with the Thunder, was a key contributor to Oklahoma City’s 2024-25 championship run. In the 2025-26 season, he averaged 9.4 points per game on 43.1 percent shooting from the field. Over his career, Wiggins holds averages of 8.7 points per game on 48.7 percent shooting, including 38 percent from beyond the arc.
The trade comes as the Hawks continue to reshape their roster ahead of the new season. Earlier on Sunday, Atlanta reportedly agreed to re-sign veteran guard CJ McCollum, adding further backcourt depth. Wiggins is expected to provide playoff experience and long-term stability with his contract, giving the Hawks a versatile scoring option.
For the Thunder, the move signals the beginning of what could be a busy offseason. Wiggins had seen his role diminish over the course of the 2025-26 season and did not play in Oklahoma City’s Game 7 loss to the Spurs in the playoffs. The Thunder now hold two future second-round picks from the deal and are expected to focus on retaining key players such as Cason Wallace and Isaiah Hartenstein. There is also speculation surrounding potential trades involving Lu Dort or Isaiah Joe as the team manages its salary cap.
While the Wiggins trade is the Thunder’s first major move of the summer, it remains uncertain whether it will be their only significant roster change. Oklahoma City also owns two first-round picks in the upcoming NBA draft, and general manager Sam Presti may explore trading up into the top 10.
