Meta has introduced a new line of smart glasses called Meta Glasses, priced at $299 and available in three distinct styles: Adventurer, Fury, and Starfire. Manufactured in partnership with eyewear conglomerate EssilorLuxottica, these glasses lack the luxury branding of previous collaborations with Ray-Ban and Oakley, allowing for a more affordable price point. The glasses went on sale on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, in several countries.
The three models cater to different tastes. The Adventurer features a classic rectangular shape available in standard and large sizes, while the Fury offers a boxier, more masculine design. Both offer 26 customization options. The Starfire, co-designed with Kylie Jenner, includes a gemstone on the lens, a metal nose pad, and an AI voice assistant that can be set to a version of Jenner's voice. All Meta Glasses include a 12-megapixel camera, six microphones, and speakers in the arms, with a battery life of over eight hours (plus 40 additional hours from the charging case).
Meta emphasized comfort with adjustable nose pads, temple tips, and overextension hinges to better fit various face shapes. Upcoming software features include pedestrian navigation with turn-by-turn directions and support for 14 new languages for live translation, including Japanese, Mandarin, Hindi, and Korean. The glasses can be purchased with or without prescription lenses, supporting a power range of -12 to +2.25.
The launch follows last week’s unveiling of Snap’s Specs, priced at $2,195, which have drawn criticism for their bulk and high cost. Meta executives view competition as beneficial, noting it helps the market learn about consumer preferences in weight and comfort. The two companies hold over 80% of the smart glasses market share collectively, according to Counterpoint Research.

Why This Matters
This launch marks a strategic shift for Meta to build its own smart glasses brand at a mass-market price point, undercutting competitors like Snap while leveraging EssilorLuxottica's manufacturing. The inclusion of AI, navigation, and translation features positions these glasses as a practical daily wearable, not just a niche gadget. For readers, this signals a potential acceleration in affordable smart glasses adoption, with implications for how we interact with AI and augmented reality in everyday settings.
