Nintendo released system update 22.5.0 for both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on June 16, 2026, bringing design improvements, enhanced stability, and new accessibility features to the consoles.
For the Nintendo Switch 2, the update adds Dutch and Russian voice-over reading support in the accessibility settings, as well as these languages for text-to-speech conversion in game chat. The update also includes various bug fixes and performance stability improvements.
On the original Nintendo Switch, the update redesigns the Nintendo eShop interface. When the system theme is set to "Basic Black," the eShop automatically adopts matching theme colors. Additionally, users can now set identity verification prompts for actions such as opening the eShop or paying with a saved payment method. Video playback in "Game News" and the eShop now supports 10-second rewind and fast-forward using the ZL/ZR buttons. Several other issues have been fixed and system stability improved.
