Corentin Moutet Fined by ATP After Swearing Seven Times in Live BBC Interview at Queen's

French tennis player Corentin Moutet, ranked world number 36, swore seven times during a live BBC television interview at Queen's Club on June 16, 2026, after defeating compatriot Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 6-7 (5-7) 6-4 7-6 (7-5) in the first round. When interviewer Jenny Drummond asked Moutet about his opponent saving a match point with a 142mph second serve, the 27-year-old responded with profanity. Despite Drummond's explicit request to "no F-bombs please," Moutet repeated the expletive three more times, forcing Drummond to apologize to viewers. He was defaulted from the 2022 Adelaide International for swearing at the umpire after losing to Laslo Djere, and subsequently lost his financial aid from the French Tennis Federation (FFT) in November 2022 after the organization issued a statement: "We cannot condone this type of behaviour. We ask our players and coaches for an exemplary attitude." The ATP is expected to fine Moutet substantially for this latest outburst, despite him earning approximately £33,000 in prize money for his victory at Queen's.
