Microsoft has begun rolling out a redesigned Xbox PC app to Xbox Insiders, featuring up to 60% faster launch times and streamlined usability improvements. The app now launches up to 60% faster overall, with the Home, Store, and Game Pass pages loading up to 50% faster and in-app windows opening up to 65% faster, according to Microsoft's internal testing. Performance results may vary depending on device, internet connection, and system configuration.
The updated app introduces a cleaner interface with simplified navigation designed to work smoothly with both mouse and controller input. The Library section now features updated filters and new organization options to make browsing game collections easier. Social features have been integrated into the main navigation, allowing users to quickly see what friends are playing, start chats, and join parties. Search functionality has been expanded to return results across games, installed titles, add-ons, and players. Refreshed game cards, animations, and settings pages complete the visual overhaul.
Microsoft is simultaneously rolling out the refreshed Xbox experience across web and cloud platforms. The updated Xbox Cloud Gaming web interface includes a new Library tab that consolidates cloud games from both personal libraries and Xbox Game Pass, with improved sorting and filtering options. Desktop mode provides better use of screen space on larger displays, and users can now select between dark and light modes plus five high-contrast options for accessibility support. A similar redesigned interface is beginning to roll out to Xbox Cloud Gaming apps on supported televisions and VR headsets, though Microsoft notes each platform has been customized to suit its specific screen type and use case.
According to Jason Beaumont, VP of Xbox Experiences, these changes represent part of Microsoft's broader effort to make Xbox faster, simpler, and more familiar across all devices and platforms. Xbox Insiders can enroll in the test through the Xbox Insider Hub app on Windows, with wider rollout to follow. Microsoft continues soliciting player feedback through its Xbox Player Voice program and the Xbox Insider subreddit community.
Why This Matters
Insiders and general Xbox users across PC, web, TV, and VR platforms will experience measurable performance gains (up to 60% faster launch times) and interface redesigns. Wider rollout timing will determine when broader user populations access these changes. Feedback from the Insider program will shape final deployment scope and schedule.
