Quick Facts
- Arrested in flagrante on suspicion of domestic violence
- Charged with bodily injury and insult against a woman
- Accused of grabbing companion by neck with both hands during argument
- Released on provisional liberty without bail
- Court imposed protective measures and conditions on release

Jadson, a 42-year-old former midfielder who played for Corinthians, Athletico Paranaense, and São Paulo, was arrested on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in Cambé, northern Paraná state, Brazil, on suspicion of domestic violence. According to police records, his companion reported to military police that she was grabbed by the neck during an argument. She presented visible marks on her neck, which were documented by responding officers. Jadson was charged with bodily injury and insult against a woman and held at Cambé's public detention facility.
In his statement to civil police, Jadson characterised the incident as "a marital dispute, but it's part of life" and denied committing physical aggression. His companion stated to police that this was not the first time she had been assaulted by him, though she had not previously filed a report. She formally requested protective measures and underwent provisional bodily injury documentation.
On Sunday, August 9, Judge Karin Feuerharmel Giuseppin of the Londrina district court released Jadson on provisional liberty without bail. The judge imposed conditions including bimonthly court appearances, prohibition from leaving the city for more than 15 days without notifying the court, and a ban on frequenting bars during the proceedings. Jadson's defence stated in a public statement that "the judiciary recognised there was no basis to keep him detained" and invoked his presumption of innocence, declining further media comment.
Jadson was born in Londrina and developed through Athletico's youth academy before joining professional ranks there from 2002 to 2005. He then spent eight seasons at Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine, becoming a club icon with 12 titles. Upon returning to Brazil in 2012, he played for São Paulo and was part of Brazil's 2013 Confederations Cup-winning squad. He joined Corinthians in 2014 and won two Brazilian Championships. Later stints included Avaí and Vitória. He retired officially on August 22, 2022, after 42 caps for Brazil.
Why This Matters
A former international footballer with 42 Brazil national team caps faces domestic violence charges with documented physical evidence. The court release on conditions affects his legal status and movement; outcomes may set precedent for how Brazilian courts handle domestic violence cases involving public figures and establish whether bail-free provisional liberty conditions are enforced.
