Cartoon Network leak exposes 200GB of production files from 30+ shows
Over 200GB of internal Cartoon Network production material from more than 30 shows has leaked online, including storyboards, character models, and editable animation files. The leak, traced to an anonymous X account, surfaced days after Skydance completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery on October 6, though no direct connection has been established. Paramount and Warner Bros. have not confirmed the leak or its origins.

Over 200 gigabytes of Cartoon Network's behind-the-scenes production material has leaked online, exposing decades of internal files from more than 30 shows. The leaked archive includes storyboards, character model sheets, animatic files, puppet rigs, production guides, and editable animation assets from popular series including The Amazing World of Gumball, Adventure Time, The Powerpuff Girls, Teen Titans, Regular Show, Dexter's Laboratory, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, The Looney Tunes Show, Robot Chicken, and The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy. Some files reportedly contain early episode source files, layered background artwork, and vector graphics in formats such as EPS, alongside Flash animation files, Photoshop documents, and design fonts.
The material was initially distributed via a Google Drive folder and accompanied by a master Google Doc linking to additional content hosted on separate file-sharing sites. The leak traces back to an anonymous X account named "totallynotaburner," created in October 2026, based in the U.S. Mashable independently accessed and verified the Drive contents; Gizmodo and other outlets confirmed the scope of the leak. Many links have since been taken down for copyright violations as the material spreads across the internet.
The leak surfaced just days after Skydance completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery on October 6, 2026, consolidating control of Warner Bros., HBO, DC Studios, CNN, Paramount, and Cartoon Network under a single corporate entity led by David Ellison. The timing prompted social media speculation about Paramount's security measures, though no evidence has emerged linking the leak directly to post-acquisition systems. Paramount has faced similar incidents this year: in April, Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender was leaked online months before its Paramount+ release, and Variety reported that Paramount's investigation found that breach did not originate within the studio's systems.
Paramount and Warner Bros. did not respond to requests for comment to verify the leak's authenticity or confirm the circumstances of its origin. Industry observers noted the historical and educational value of production archives as documentation of creative labor, while animation artists have previously objected to unauthorized leaks, citing loss of control over how their working materials are presented publicly. The full scope of how the files were originally obtained and whether their acquisition predates the recent corporate acquisition remains unclear.
Why This Matters
Cartoon Network's production archives—spanning decades of internal design, animation, and source files—are now publicly accessible, potentially affecting licensing enforcement, creative attribution controls, and industry security practices. The timing coincides with Skydance's acquisition consolidation, which integrates multiple studios' systems; however, no causal link has been established. Copyright takedowns are underway, but the scope and permanence of distributed copies remain unclear. This affects animation studios' ability to control derivative works and informs ongoing security audits across the entertainment sector post-acquisition.
