Karoline Leavitt, who departed her role as White House press secretary in August, will begin as an on-air contributor at Fox News on November 1. The 29-year-old, who was the youngest person to serve as press secretary, will provide political analysis and commentary across Fox's platforms.
Leavitt cited her "firsthand experience in the White House and on the presidential campaign trail" as preparation for the role. Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott praised Leavitt's "authentic and sharp insight" and her understanding of the current political landscape. Leavitt stated she looked forward to bringing "the same energy and candor that defined my tenure" to Fox's audience.
Leavitt left the administration after the birth of her second child and relocated to New Hampshire with her husband and two young children. According to sources, Fox News agreed to construct a studio in her home to accommodate her work as a contributor. She has remained active in Trump's political orbit through the Trump-aligned MAGA Inc. super PAC and recent appearances on Fox programming, including on Sean Hannity's show and podcast.
Leavitt's move to Fox continues a pattern of White House press secretaries joining the network. Former press secretaries Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Kayleigh McEnany, both from Trump's first administration, also joined Fox after leaving their posts. McEnany joined in 2021 and remains at the network. President Trump has not yet named a replacement for Leavitt; Vice President JD Vance led the last press briefing on September 3.
Why This Matters
A former White House press secretary is transitioning to media commentary at a major news network, continuing a documented pattern of administration officials joining Fox News after leaving government roles. This shift affects Fox's roster of political analysts and reflects ongoing connections between the Trump administration and the network's programming. The timing and logistics (home-based studio arrangement) indicate continued media participation by recently departed administration figures.
