Sony Launches Transparent Prism Collection for PS5 Controllers and Covers

Sony announced the Prism Collection on October 28, 2026, introducing transparent DualSense wireless controllers and matching PS5 console covers in three colorways: Flare Orange, Emerald Green, and Graphite Gray. The collection features high-gloss clear shells that reveal internal components, combining nostalgic 1990s and early 2000s design aesthetics with modern industrial styling. A metallic center panel on controllers provides contrast and premium finish consistency with the PS5 generation.

According to Sony's Color, Material and Finish design team, the collection was developed in response to fan demand for transparent controllers. Leo Cardoso stated the team "wanted to bring back the iconic see-through trend of the late '90s in a fresh, modern way that complements the PS5's industrial design." Each color was carefully selected to create distinct visual effects: Flare Orange gains rosy tones where transparent materials overlap, Emerald Green displays deeper hunter-green depth through its transparency, and Graphite Gray offers a cool-toned, smoky alternative.

The DualSense controllers are priced at $84.99 USD (€84.99 / £74.99 / ¥12,480 including tax), while PS5 console covers cost $74.99 USD (€74.99 / £64.99 / ¥9,980 including tax). Console covers will be available exclusively through PlayStation Direct in select regions and through limited retailers elsewhere. Pre-orders begin November 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM local time, with global launch scheduled for February 4, 2027. Regional availability and exact launch dates will vary by country.

The Prism Collection represents a continuation of Sony's history with transparent gaming hardware, which dates back to the PlayStation 1 era. Every PlayStation generation has featured see-through controller options at some point. On the controllers, translucent plastic wraps around nearly the entire frame; on console covers, transparency is limited to viewing the fan and select components. Pricing is comparable to existing alternative color controllers and covers, though positioned at the higher end of the range, with basic color controllers starting at $74 and covers around $59.
