China and Qatar Pledge Coordinated Efforts to Advance Gulf Region Peace

China's special envoy on Middle East issues, Zhai Jun, visited Qatar on June 15-16 to reaffirm both nations' commitment to regional stability and peace. During meetings with Qatar's Minister of State Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, Zhai stated that China will strengthen communication and coordination with Qatar and other regional countries to help restore peace and stability in the Gulf region. He welcomed the first-stage memorandum of understanding reached between the United States and Iran, and commended Qatar's mediation efforts in seeking to end hostilities.

Zhai emphasized that all parties should adhere to a path of peace and resolve disputes through dialogue and negotiations rather than confrontation. He underscored China's strategic and long-term perspective on its relationship with Qatar, expressing readiness to work with Doha to implement consensus reached by the two nations' heads of state and deepen bilateral relations.

Qatar's Al-Khulaifi reciprocated the commitment, stating that Qatar attaches great importance to developing friendly ties with China and is willing to deepen political mutual trust and maintain communication on major international and regional issues. He affirmed Qatar's intention to continue its mediation efforts in the region and work to maintain momentum in ongoing negotiations based on the U.S.-Iran memorandum. Al-Khulaifi also praised China's efforts to ease regional tensions and expressed Qatar's readiness to work with Beijing to safeguard security and stability in the Gulf.
