Greek journalist Mina Karamitrou appeared on the morning show of OPEN TV on Thursday, June 18, less than 24 hours after being injured in an explosion on the station's premises. The incident occurred shortly after the end of Wednesday's broadcast when an outdoor air conditioning unit exploded and caught fire in a courtyard area of the television station. Karamitrou suffered injuries from debris and was hospitalized until late Wednesday evening.
During the opening of Thursday's show, co-host Nikos Stravelakis greeted Karamitrou with humor, asking, "Wait! First of all, are you alive?" She replied, "Of course!" Stravelakis then remarked, "So you have nine lives," referring to her escape. Karamitrou responded in jest, "I didn't understand. Did you want me not to come today so you could play music from the Megaron Mousikis and stuff?"
Stravelakis recounted the moment of the explosion, saying, "My God and my Christ. What I saw yesterday... The show ends, the air conditioner explodes, Mina goes away. Because I saw the fire and the explosion, if you had been a little further..." Karamitrou, with a splint on her arm indicating her ordeal, stated, "Accidents happen, everything is okay. We are fine."
Stravelakis was by her side from the moment of the incident and did not appear on his radio show on Real FM that day. Karamitrou remained hospitalized until late Wednesday night. Both presenters reported to work on Thursday, with Karamitrou showing resilience despite her injury.
