In the final episodes of Clarkson's Farm season five on Prime Video, Jeremy Clarkson explored his lifelong passion for birds and introduced viewers to Hannah Bourne-Taylor, a local bird conservation expert from a neighbouring village who assessed Diddly Squat Farm. Bourne-Taylor's enthusiasm for avian life was immediately apparent as she expressed excitement at sighting and hearing rare bird species, leaving Clarkson visibly impressed with her extensive knowledge of bird calls and behavior.

The moment that captured widespread attention came when Bourne-Taylor revealed she had allowed a bird to nest in her hair for 84 days. She explained that while living alone in the African bush, she discovered an orphaned finch whose nest had been destroyed and whose flock had abandoned it. Deciding to serve as a surrogate mother, she kept the bird on her body throughout its waking hours. When the finch slept and napped, it would construct nests from her hair—a three-month arrangement that became the focus of the bird's entire world.

Bourne-Taylor is an accomplished wildlife conservationist, author, and activist with a substantial public following. Now based in Oxfordshire with her husband and two Ghanaian rescue dogs, Bourne-Taylor offers services including bird surveys, conservation consultancy, and public speaking engagements on wildlife protection.
