EuroChem opens sulfuric acid plant in Kazakhstan

EuroChem has launched a sulfuric acid plant in Kazakhstan as part of a multi-stage investment project. The company says the facility has an annual capacity of 800,000 tons and will supply both its own chemical complex and Kazakhstan’s domestic market.
Quick Facts
- put a sulfuric acid plant into operation
- launched the second stage of its investment project in Kazakhstan
- previously commissioned a mining and concentration plant for phosphate feedstock
- EuroChem
- 800,000 tons per year
EuroChem has put a sulfuric acid plant into operation in Kazakhstan, the company said on Tuesday. The facility has a design capacity of 800,000 tons a year, which EuroChem said makes it one of the largest of its kind in the country.
The plant’s output will be used both for EuroChem’s chemical complex under construction and to meet demand in Kazakhstan’s domestic market. The launch marks the second stage of EuroChem’s investment project in the country.
According to the company, an earlier stage of the project included commissioning a mining and concentration plant for phosphate feedstock with a capacity of 840,000 tons per year. The final stage is scheduled for 2027, when a mineral fertilizer and industrial products chemical facility is expected to be commissioned.
Why This Matters
This project expands local industrial chemical capacity in Kazakhstan while securing a key input for EuroChem’s downstream fertilizer and chemical production. For businesses and investors, the launch signals continued capital deployment in the country, potential improvements in domestic supply reliability, and progress toward a larger integrated production chain that could affect regional fertilizer availability and pricing by 2027.
