The Governor of Bangka Belitung Islands, Hidayat Arsani, has called for subsidized fuel distribution to be transparent and free from monopoly control to optimize public services and prevent social resentment. Speaking at a coordination meeting on fuel distribution oversight and management held in Pangkalpinang on June 18, 2026, Arsani emphasized that payment systems and fuel distribution oversight should not be monopolized by a single banking institution.
Arsani stressed the need for systemic reform in subsidized fuel distribution across the province to ensure fairness for all business actors and consumers. He advocated for a more inclusive and efficient system through cooperation with multiple banks in the region, arguing that multi-bank involvement is crucial for accelerating service integration and preventing social tension within the community. "We must have a more inclusive system that can be completed quickly," he stated, urging coordination with other banks to ensure equitable treatment.
During the meeting, Satriyo Wibowo Wicaksono, Sales Manager of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga for the Bangka Belitung area, presented a comprehensive report on fuel distribution conditions and energy consumption levels. He reported that pertalite, biosolar, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supplies are stable across the region. Pertalite distribution is strictly regulated under Presidential Regulation Number 191 of 2014, with eligible users including land transportation, fishing businesses, government public services, water transportation, agriculture, and micro-entrepreneurs.
Wicaksono confirmed that energy security in the Bangka Belitung region remains stable, with supplies flowing smoothly through two main supply routes: Pangkalbalam Depot on Bangka Island and Tanjungpandan Depot on Belitung Island. Current fuel stocks at distribution centers are in safe condition with regular supply shipments arriving consistently. The governor expressed hope that the coordination meeting would produce direct improvements in public service quality and support equitable community welfare.
Why This Matters
This demand for transparent, multi-bank fuel distribution directly affects millions of consumers and small businesses in Bangka Belitung. By breaking monopoly control, the governor is working to reduce fuel price manipulation and ensure equitable access to subsidized energy—critical for agriculture, fishing, and transport sectors. The policy shift could serve as a regional model for fair energy governance across Indonesia, impacting fuel affordability and community economic stability.
