5-Star RB David Gabriel Georges Cancels Georgia Official Visit

David Gabriel Georges, a 5-star running back rated as the No. 10 overall player and No. 2 RB in the 2027 recruiting class, announced on Wednesday that he is canceling his official visit to the University of Georgia scheduled for the coming weekend. The decision marks a significant blow to Georgia's recruiting efforts, as the Bulldogs were hoping to secure one of the nation's top offensive prospects.

Georges stated that his decision to redirect his focus stems from a desire to concentrate on schools that align better with his goals. "I just wanted to focus on other schools that fit what I'm looking for better," he told On3's Hayes Fawcett. "Recruiting is a big decision, and I felt it was best to put my energy into the places where I see myself the most." The recruit will now concentrate his recruitment efforts on three programs he has already visited: the Ole Miss Rebels, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Tennessee Volunteers.

While Georges' snub represents a setback for head coach Kirby Smart and the Georgia staff, the Bulldogs are not without options at the running back position in the 2027 class. Georgia already has a commitment from 5-star RB Kemon Spell, rated as the No. 1 running back and No. 7 overall player in the class. Despite the competitive nature of elite-level college football recruitment, securing both the nation's top two running backs was viewed as unlikely, and Georges' decision to pursue alternatives elsewhere may indicate diminishing prospects for the Bulldogs in this recruitment.
