Yekaterinburg to build new road exit from Kompressorniy neighborhood

The city of Yekaterinburg is seeking a contractor to develop a conceptual design for a new road that will connect the Kompressorniy, Lechebnyy, and Sibirskiy Tract neighborhoods. The road segment will run from Latviyskaya Street to the intersection of Khlebnaya Street and Vykhidnoy Lane, spanning approximately 1.35 to 1.75 kilometers depending on the selected route variant.

The project is presented as a continuation of a bridge in Nizovoy Lane that opened in 2025. City officials have requested two design options: Variant 1 proposes extending Latviyskaya Street eastward to Vykhidnoy Lane (1.35 km); Variant 2 involves improvements to Kungurkskiy and Kaskadniy passages plus reconstruction of Khlebnaya Street and Zernovoy Lane (1.75 km). Both routes will feature two-lane asphalt roads with 3.5-meter lanes, 2.25-meter sidewalks, street lighting, two traffic-light-controlled intersections, and video surveillance.

The project requires relocation of a high-pressure gas pipeline and demolition of several structures. The deadline for contractor submissions is September 28, 2026, with the conceptual design expected by 2027, followed by construction. The initiative addresses long-standing traffic congestion reported by residents; currently only two exits serve the 30,000-resident neighborhood—from the Sibirskiy Tract duplicate and via Slobodskoy Lane near a poultry farm. Discussions about constructing a bridge via Nizovoy Lane have occurred since 2010.
