Alison Hammond hospitalized for heart checks after leaving This Morning live

Alison Hammond, co-host of ITV's This Morning, left the live broadcast on Friday, 2 October 2026, after appearing to clutch her chest during a segment about pets. Co-host Dermot O'Leary, 53, addressed her sudden absence when the show returned from an advertisement break, telling viewers that Hammond was "feeling a little unwell" and would not return for the remainder of the programme.

Hammond, 51, was assisted off the set by O'Leary while appearing to breathe heavily. She had been on air for just over an hour when the incident occurred. A source told the Daily Mail that she walked into an ambulance after leaving the studio and was taken to hospital for evaluation.

In a video posted from a hospital bed on Friday afternoon, Hammond reassured followers that she was "fine" and undergoing tests. She explained that she had experienced "a little bit of a palpitation" during the show and was "getting my old ticker checked out." She expressed hope that the episode "was just a little panic attack or something like that" and thanked viewers for their concern while apologizing for her abrupt departure, noting that she would "never normally" leave a television show.

Hammond, who rose to fame on the reality show Big Brother in 2002, has been a regular co-presenter on This Morning since 2021 and co-hosts The Great British Bake Off alongside Noel Fielding. She also presents For the Love of Dogs, which she took over in 2024. ITV confirmed her departure from Friday's broadcast, and her representatives were contacted for further comment.
