Australia have recalled allrounder Aaron Hardie for the second T20I against Bangladesh in Chattogram, as they seek a first bilateral T20I series victory in Asia in four years. Hardie replaces Xavier Bartlett in the only change to the Australian XI, with captain Mitchell Marsh winning the toss and electing to bat first at the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium.
Hardie makes his first international appearance since August last year, when he faced South Africa. The Western Australian has been in strong form in franchise cricket, recently leading Peshawar Zalmi to the Pakistan Super League title with a player-of-the-match performance in the final, scoring an unbeaten 56 from 39 balls and taking 4-27.
Bangladesh, captained by Towhid Hridoy in the continued absence of the injured Litton Das, made two changes to their side. Pacer Shoriful Islam and spinner Mahedi Hasan were rested, with fast bowler Nahid Rana called up for his second T20I appearance and left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed also brought into the side.
Australia lead the three-match series 1-0 after a four-wicket victory in the opening game on Wednesday. Marsh said his side were better prepared for the Chattogram surface after being surprised by its lack of pace in the first match. Spinners are expected to play a key role again.
The third and final T20I of the series will be played at the same venue on June 21.

Why This Matters
This recall signals Australia's intent to secure a rare T20I series win in Asia, a feat they haven't achieved since 2022. For fans and bettors, Hardie's inclusion adds depth to both batting and bowling, while Bangladesh's resting of key bowlers may shift the balance. The outcome directly impacts ICC T20I rankings and both teams' confidence ahead of future tournaments.
