Doncic scores 52 points as Lakers defeat Jazz in comeback win

The Slovenian guard hit eight three-pointers, including consecutive shots with 1:42 remaining that extended the Lakers' lead to 127–121, and finished with a 75% shooting rate from inside the arc.

The Jazz opened strongly, building an 18-point lead by the end of the first quarter (47–29) behind Lauri Markkanen's 28 points and Keyonte George's triple-double (24 points, 10 assists, 9 rebounds). The Lakers trailed at halftime but mounted a second-half rally led by Doncic and Austin Reaves, who contributed 29 points. A Doncic three-pointer with 4.1 seconds left in the second quarter gave Los Angeles its first lead at 74–71. After the Jazz regained the lead late in the fourth quarter, Doncic's back-to-back three-pointers secured the win.

The victory marked the Lakers' third consecutive win and improved their season record to 3–0. Doncic's 50-point, 10-assist game was his fourth career performance of that caliber, breaking a tie with Nikola Jokic, Russell Westbrook, Damian Lillard, and Nate Archibald for the second-most such games in NBA history behind James Harden's eight. Doncic also became the second player in NBA history to record a 50-point, 10-assist game with multiple franchises—the Lakers and previously the Mavericks—joining Wilt Chamberlain (76ers and Warriors). It was the first 50-point game of the 2026–27 NBA season.
