Detective Precure film opens September 18 with voice actors Chiga and Kito in debut collaboration

The theatrical film "Detective Precure: The Mysterious Garden and Two Secrets" premiered on September 18, 2026. The movie marks the first time voice actresses Chiga Akari and Kito Akari have worked together, with Chiga voicing protagonist Akechi Anna (Cure Answer) and Kito voicing Karin, a character central to the film's mystery plot.

The film introduces creatures called "Damemame" that place X-marks on important things, immobilizing them and causing chaos in the city. The protagonists must solve this mystery while exploring the relationship between Cure Answer and Karin, which serves as a key element of the story. Producers emphasized that the series centers on the theme of "thinking for oneself"—encouraging viewers to observe, feel, and consider what constitutes truth based on their own judgment.

Kito's involvement carries special significance as it marks her first appearance in the Precure franchise despite being a longtime fan. She grew up watching the series and attended theatrical screenings of "Yes! Precure 5" with Miracle Light glow sticks to cheer the characters. The film's revival of the Miracle Light after a three-year absence created an emotional moment for her. Kito described Karin as a relatable, emotionally vulnerable character who appears outwardly cheerful while being sensitive to subtle remarks. During recording, the script included detailed stage directions noting the character's emotional state at each moment, allowing Kito to craft nuanced vocal performances beyond dialogue alone.

Chiga, who voices the main protagonist, noted that the relationship between Cure Answer and Karin is central to the story's emotional depth and drama. She expressed admiration for Kito's performance, describing how Kito brought Karin fully to life on set. The two actresses had not previously worked together and shared personal connections to the Precure world—Chiga had listened to Kito's radio programs during her own voice acting training and credited them with inspiring her career pursuit.
