26 Students Achieve Perfect 100 Percentile in MHT-CET PCM 2025 First Session

Maharashtra's MHT-CET Cell declared first-session PCM entrance exam results with 26 students achieving a perfect 100 percentile, comprising 22 boys and four girls. The examination involved 4,54,069 candidates across 16 sessions in April, and marks the debut of a two-attempt system where higher scores across both attempts will determine final admissions.

The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) Cell announced results for the first session of the Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) entrance examination on Monday, with 26 students achieving a perfect 100 percentile score. Among the top performers, 22 were boys and four were girls, with 24 students hailing from Maharashtra and two from other states. The examination was conducted across 16 sessions between April 11 and April 20 at 186 centres in 36 districts of Maharashtra, with 4,54,069 students appearing out of 4,79,332 registered candidates.
The student cohort taking the test reflected diverse demographics, comprising 2,73,135 male students, 1,80,916 female students, and 18 transgender candidates. Of the total examinees, 4,42,261 were from Maharashtra while 11,808 came from outside the state. Results are now accessible through individual student login portals, allowing candidates to check their performance immediately.
This year marked the introduction of a two-attempt system for the first time, fundamentally changing how admissions will be determined. Under this new format, the higher percentile obtained across both attempts will be considered for admission purposes. With second-session results still pending, education experts anticipate that final merit rankings could shift significantly once all scores are compiled, potentially benefiting students who improve their performance in the second attempt.
The Common Admission Process (CAP) for engineering and allied courses is expected to commence shortly. The 26 perfect scorers include students from major cities and smaller districts across Maharashtra, as well as Agastya Pachauri from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh and Aryaman Dokania from Kolkata, West Bengal. The strong competition demonstrated by these perfect scores underscores the intensity of engineering admissions in Maharashtra.
Why This Matters
The introduction of a two-attempt system means students who underperform in the first session have a second chance to improve their percentile for engineering admissions. With 26 perfect scorers in the first session, the competition is intense, and aspiring engineers from Maharashtra and elsewhere should monitor the second-session results closely, as final merit lists may shift. For parents and educators, this signals a more flexible—but still highly competitive—admission process.
