Indonesia Opens Mobile Legends Asian Games 2026 Qualifiers Against Laos and Vietnam

Indonesia's Mobile Legends national team began their qualification campaign for the 2026 Asian Games on June 18, 2026, competing in two matches on the opening day. The team faced Laos at 4:00 PM WIB and Vietnam at 7:30 PM WIB in a Single Round Robin format with best-of-3 (Bo3) matches, where teams must win 2-0 or 2-1 to secure victory.

The qualification phase runs from June 18-21, 2026, with Indonesia scheduled to play seven matches total during this period. The team generally plays twice daily, though on June 19 they have only one match against Singapore. The qualification rounds are held offline but are broadcast online for viewers to follow.

Indonesia's roster consists entirely of players from esports organization Alter Ego: Alexander Owen Marcetami Buhe, Arif Fudin Dingarai Putra, Dalvin Ramadhana Putra, Muhammad Affan Wahyudi, Muhammad Halim Adicondro, and Syauki Fauzan Sumarno. The coaching staff includes Head Coach Kenny Deo (Xepher) and Assistant Coach Michael Abraham.

Head Coach Xepher outlined Indonesia's strategic approach, emphasizing the team's trademark aggressive gameplay. "As Head Coach, I want to bring Indonesia with the gameplay that is known for its aggressiveness," Xepher stated. "We won't change Indonesia's identity, which is aggressive, disciplined, and intelligent gameplay." He noted that player selection was based on compatibility with this aggressive tactical system rather than individual skill alone.

The Indonesian Esports Association (PB ESI) expressed confidence in the team's preparation, stating: "With careful preparation, solid communication, and continuously refined strategic execution, the Indonesian Mobile Legends national team is ready to face fierce competition and perform at maximum capacity on the Asian stage."
