Russia's OSCE Envoy Warns Europe Moving Rapidly Towards Conflict Over Ukraine Support

Russia's Permanent Representative to the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Dmitry Polyansky, has accused European nations of advancing towards military conflict with Russia by supporting Ukraine. Speaking at a regular OSCE Permanent Council meeting in Vienna on May 28, Polyansky alleged that European countries are enabling Ukrainian forces to conduct attacks on Russian territory and serving as logistical hubs for military operations.

Polyansky criticised what he characterised as European support for "neo-Nazi" elements in Ukraine, arguing that such backing undermines diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict. He claimed that by facilitating Ukrainian military activities and increasing military presence near Russia's borders, European nations are making war with Russia inevitable. "By flirting with Ukrainian neo-Nazis and abetting them, you are sowing the seeds of a conflict in Europe, and if they put down these roots, diplomacy will not be able to resolve these differences," he stated.

The Russian diplomat further asserted that multiple European countries have become operational bases for Ukrainian armed forces, including training grounds for fighters, logistics hubs for weapons transfers, and launch platforms for combat drones. He also claimed that European territory is being used to stage attacks against sites within Russia. Polyansky questioned whether Europe's strategy of undermining peace initiatives and strengthening Ukraine's military capabilities was deliberately intended to provoke conflict with Russia.
