The two-time All-Star had signed a one-year, $10 million contract with Philadelphia in December following six seasons with the Texas Rangers, and began his Major League career with St. Louis in 2018.
At the time of his injury, García was batting .195 with a .270 on-base percentage through 67 games, contributing seven home runs, 21 RBIs, and three steals. The team recalled right-handed pitcher Seth Johnson from Triple-A Lehigh Valley, where he posted a 1.33 ERA with six saves in 24 relief appearances.
