Quick Facts
- Opened consultation for residual income tax refund batch
- Inclusion of 2026 declarations submitted after deadline
- Resolution of pending tax issues
- Distribution of residual amounts from prior years
- Prioritized distribution to legally defined groups

Brazil's Federal Revenue Service (Receita Federal) opened consultations on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, for a residual batch of income tax refunds totaling R$1,265,846,221.42 for 412,186 taxpayers. The batch includes refunds for 2026 declarations submitted after the deadline, resolved pending issues, and residual amounts from prior years. Payment will be deposited directly to taxpayers' bank accounts or via PIX on September 30, 2026.
The distribution prioritizes legally defined groups. Of the total amount, R$466,683,970.39 is allocated to priority taxpayers: 9,250 people aged 80 or older; 59,722 aged 60–79; 7,341 with physical or mental disabilities or serious illness; and 19,699 whose primary income source is teaching. Additionally, 281,609 taxpayers without legal priority status receive preferential treatment for having used the pre-filled declaration and/or selected PIX as their payment method. The remaining 34,565 refunds go to non-priority taxpayers.
Taxpayers can verify their inclusion in the batch through the Federal Revenue Service's official website (www.gov.br/receitafederal) by selecting "Meu Imposto de Renda" and then "Consultar minha restituição." Detailed processing information is available via the e-CAC portal, and the service is also accessible through the Revenue Service's mobile application for smartphones and tablets.
Security protocols restrict payments to accounts held in the taxpayer's own name. If banking information contains errors or the designated account is inactive, the deposit will not be processed. Taxpayers facing such issues can request payment rescheduling through Banco do Brasil within one year of the initial failed attempt, via the BB's IRPF portal (www.bb.com.br/irpf) or phone lines: 4004-0001 (state capitals), 0800-729-0001 (other municipalities), or 0800-729-0088 (hearing impaired). After one year, taxpayers must request payment through the e-CAC portal under "Declarações e Demonstrativos" > "Meu Imposto de Renda" > "Solicitar restituição não resgatada na rede bancária."
Why This Matters
412,186 Brazilian taxpayers will receive a combined R$1.27 billion in residual income tax refunds on September 30, 2026. The distribution prioritizes legally defined groups (elderly, disabled individuals, and teachers), with additional preference for those using pre-filled declarations or PIX payment. Taxpayers must verify account eligibility and may request rescheduled payment through Banco do Brasil if banking information is incorrect or accounts are inactive.
