Tay Keith, the Grammy-nominated hip-hop producer behind hits like Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode” and Drake’s “Nonstop,” has died at the age of 29. Metro Nashville Police confirmed Thursday that he was found dead in his apartment on Martin Street after officers performed a welfare check.
In a statement, police said: “No foul play is suspected in the death of Brytavious Chambers, 29, also known as Grammy nominated record producer Tay Keith. His death is unclassified pending autopsy results.”
Born Brytavious Lakeith Chambers in Memphis, Keith rose to prominence with BlocBoy JB’s 2018 hit “Rover.” He later co-produced Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode,” which earned him a Grammy nomination in 2019. His resume also includes collaborations with Drake, Beyoncé, Eminem, 21 Savage, and Sexyy Red. Keith contributed to Beyoncé’s “Homecoming” album and produced tracks like “Nonstop,” “Look Alive,” and “First Person Shooter.”
Keith was named Producer of the Year at BMI’s R&B/Hip-Hop Awards three times, most recently in 2024. He was also recognized at the same ceremony as R&B/Hip-Hop Songwriter of the Year in 2018. His solo single “Pound Town” with Sexyy Red became a viral hit in 2023.
The cause of death remains unknown and is under investigation by the medical examiner. No additional details have been released at this time.
