Five-Star RB David Gabriel Georges Narrows College Recruitment to Three Schools, Drops Georgia

David Gabriel Georges, the consensus No. 2 running back prospect in the nation and No. 15 overall recruit, has narrowed his college football recruitment focus to three programs after deciding to remove Georgia from consideration. The Canadian-born star from Chattanooga's Baylor School had been scheduled to visit the Bulldogs but changed course, telling Rivals that he wanted to "focus on other schools that fit what I'm looking for better" and "put my energy into the places where I see myself the most."

Ohio State maintains a commanding position in Georges' recruitment process, leveraging its track record of developing elite running backs and a strong relationship between the prospect and Buckeyes running backs coach Carlos Locklyn. Locklyn has visited Georges' family in Quebec, and Ohio State has hosted the recruit on multiple campus visits, including an official visit scheduled for late May. According to Rivals' Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Buckeyes hold a 91.7 percent likelihood of securing his commitment.

The two other schools in Georges' top three are SEC programs Tennessee and Ole Miss, both of which have positioned themselves as credible challengers to Ohio State. Tennessee has been actively working to close the gap, with Georges' uncle suggesting that the Volunteers may have moved to the forefront of his considerations. Running backs coach De'Rail Sims has been building rapport with the prospect following his Tennessee Mr. Football honors. Ole Miss, meanwhile, has leveraged connections through Baylor School alumni—running back Shekai Mills-Knight recently hosted Georges on a visit to Oxford, and Rivals' No. 4 quarterback Keegan Croucher, also from Baylor School, recently committed to the Rebels' 2027 class.

Georges is widely regarded as an elite prospect, combining rare size with explosive athleticism and a violent running style that makes him extremely difficult to defend in open space. The No. 1 recruit from Tennessee in the class is expected to announce his commitment on July 22, more than a month away from the time of this report. Ohio State's 2027 recruiting class currently ranks No. 7 nationally and includes commitments from consensus No. 1 edge rusher David Jacobs, No. 3 wide receiver Jamier Brown, and No. 11 edge Wyatt Smith, though no running back has yet committed to the program.
