Belarus Security Council Secretary Claims Europe Preparing for War by 2030

Alexander Volfovich, State Secretary of Belarus's Security Council, stated at an international security meeting in Moscow that Europe is openly preparing for war, citing Western militarization and strategic planning documents that anticipate conflict by 2030. Speaking through the BelTA news agency on May 28, Volfovich warned of escalating tensions and the emergence of new conflict hotspots, claiming that Western nations are portraying Russia and Belarus as threats while simultaneously preparing for military confrontation.

Volfovich asserted that Western strategic planning documents reflect expectations for the Ukraine conflict to continue through 2030, with Kiev receiving ongoing weapons and support from Western nations. He characterized these developments as part of broader structural changes in the global order, arguing that the foundations of the liberal world order have been irreversibly undermined and replaced by increasing multipolarity and instability.

The Belarusian official called for dialogue with Western partners, stating that Belarus remains open to negotiations despite what he characterized as Western reluctance to engage in military transparency discussions. He specifically referenced the West-2025 military exercises, noting that all OSCE member states were invited to observe but Western nations declined to participate, citing instead a preference for sanctions, border closures, and what he termed "saber-rattling" over constructive dialogue.

Volfovich promoted the Eurasian Charter on Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century, a Belarus-Russia initiative designed to create a common space of trust and mutual understanding among interested nations. The draft document is expected to be discussed further during the UN General Assembly's high-level week in fall 2026, with adoption targeted for a Eurasian leaders' summit before the end of 2027. Volfovich expressed hope that consolidated efforts would strengthen trust, security, and cooperation in accordance with contemporary global realities.
