20-Year-Old Motorcyclist Dies After Striking Cattle on Rural Road in São Paulo

A 20-year-old man, identified as Thales Henrique Mattos Campos, died on Monday after his motorcycle struck a cow on a rural road in Tupi Paulista, São Paulo state. The collision occurred at kilometer 003 of SPA 658/294, a vicinal road, as the motorcycle traveled toward Rodovia Comandante João Ribeiro de Barros (SP-294). According to the Military Highway Police, heavy rain was falling at the time of the accident, which may have contributed to the incident. The animal, which reportedly belonged to the victim's family, survived the collision but wandered into nearby pasture and has not been located.

Emergency services from the Fire Department responded to the scene and transported Campos to Tupi Paulista's Municipal Emergency Room. However, he could not be resuscitated after suffering cardiorespiratory arrest and died at the hospital. The Civil Police are investigating the incident. According to the State Transportation Agency's Multimodal Control Center, family members confirmed that the struck animal was their own property. The accident did not require road closure.

Thales Henrique Mattos Campos was laid to rest on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Municipal Cemetery in Tupi Paulista.
